Inconsistencies in the Register of Interests of Sue Hoyle.
Dear Complaints Manager,
The Register of Interest for Sue Hoyle presents:
“Sue Hoyle
• Sole trader
• Royal Opera House Covent Garden Foundation
• Leeds Culture Trust
• Fuel (Fuel Theatre Productions)
• Selection Committee, Longwood Fellows Program USA (Horticulture)
• Honorary Bencher of Middle Temple (appointed June 2022)
Husband is an arts consultant and Trustee of (a) English Stage Company (Royal Court Theatre) and
(b) Diverse City”, registerofinterest-commissioners-2022-23-1.pdf (judicialappointments.gov.uk).
The biography for Sue Hoyle reads:
“Sue Hoyle

She is a Trustee of the Royal Opera House Covent Garden Foundation and Chair of its Learning and Participation Committee.
She is a member of the Selection Committee, Longwood Fellows Program USA (Horticulture). There is one identity with this name with two active appointments and 6 resigned appointments, Susan Linda HOYLE personal appointments - Find and update company information - GOV.UK (company-information.service.gov.uk) The active appointments are FUEL PRODUCTIONS LTD and ROYAL OPERA HOUSE COVENT GARDEN FOUNDATION, the company associated to the charity. She incorrectly reference Fuel Productions Ltd as Fuel (Fuel Theatre Productions). It would be appropriate to correct the record as this reference is inaccurate. Whilst her trusteeship to the Royal Opera House Covent Garden Foundation is registered, her directorship of a company with the same name is not. I'm aware that people often don't declare the company that is related to a charity but this is an inaccuracy that Sue Hoyle ought to provide leadership on doing so accurately.
Sue Hoyle declares her husbands interests as (a) English Stage Company (Royal Court Theatre) and
(b) Diverse City. His identity was located in Companies House, Graham Thomas DEVLIN personal appointments - Find and update company information - GOV.UK (company-information.service.gov.uk). He is confirmed to be a current director of English Stage Company(The). The addition of “(Royal Court Theatre)”, in the Register of Interests, is unnecessary. Mr Devlin resigned his appointment with Diverse City on 10 May 2023. The reference to this company is due to be deleted.
These appear to be minor inconsistencies which, if it were not for the significant role that Sue Hoyle holds within the Judiciary, might go unnoticed. Given her position, the public should be able to expect accurate, up to date records because audits and due diligence checks for anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing rely on accurate records. Please will you ask Sue Hoyle to confirm whether or not she has any other identities registered in Companies House?
Sue Hoyle's appointment as a sole trader could not be located. Please will you provide me with further information on this interest so that I might locate it in Companies House?
Yours sincerely,
Alison Wright.
